Following New Testament examples, Riverside is governed by a board of elders chosen based on scriptural guidelines. The physical and financial needs of the church are handled by a board of deacons, also selected based on godly character. – 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Timothy 3:8-13
Gene Harris (pastor)
Gene Harris accepted the call to pastor Riverside Church in December 2024 after a 25 year ministry with Faith Bible Church in Lansing. Gene has a background in independent Christian churches and a seminary degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL). He also has education and experience in farrier work (horseshoeing / hoof care). Gene's personal mission is to help people grow into their full potential in Christ.Gene and his wife Sherry have six grown children. Elaine Kamptner (deaconess)
Elaine is a widow who loves the Lord. She is retired from Ferris State University and is a full-time caretaker of her elderly mother. Her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter live in the area. One of her favorite passages of scripture is Romans 8:28-30. All glory, honor, power, and praise belong to God.
Joe Doyle (deacon)
Joe is a busy business owner who also works hard at growing in his knowledge of the Lord and meeting the church's logistical needs.
